Member of Knesset Reuven Rivlin reacted, Tuesday morning, to Monday evening's passing of former agriculture minister Pesach Grupper by saying, "Pesach was a unique and special man who said everything he thought, what was in his mouth and in his heart was always equal. Even if he sometimes acted like a simpleton and sounds a bit blunt, his words would eventually trickle down and do their job. Despite his rough appearance, his soul was gentle."
The former speaker added: "Pesach was a Zionist to the core. He stood on the right of the Jewish people to the land with all his might, yet acted on the understanding that in this country live even those who are not Zionists but who were born of this land." Rivlin said Grupper was one of the most knowledgeable and involved ministers of agriculture regarding the building of the land and development of agriculture, adding, "This was the office he pursued throughout his political career, and he earned it."
