Ban Calls on Syria to Allow Chemical Weapons Monitors

Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon of the United Nations repeated his called on Syria, Monday evening, to allow the world body's inspectors into the war-torn country to examine its chemical-weapons stockpiles "without delay and without conditions".

Ahead of a meeting with the head of the inspection team, Ban told reporters, "On-site activities are essential if the United Nations is to be able to establish the facts and clear all the doubts surrounding this issue." He added, "A credible and comprehensible inquiry requires full access to the site where chemical weapons are alleged to have been used."
