Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with modest to sharp losses. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,073.36, down .47 percent, while the TA 100 declined .52 percent to 1,073.27, including a .69-percent drop to 1,196.80 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 rose .19 percent to 924.41.
Worst hit was the insurance index, which fell 2.11 percent to 1,271.44, offset by the bank issues' posting of 1,129.49, up three tenths of a percent, to give the financial institutions a loss of .51 percent to 1,080.46. Most of the technology index stood at 303.72, down 1.52 percent, while the biomed index climbed 1.86 percent to 860.39. The communications stocks finished the day at 556.64, down .57 percent, while the oil and natural-gas issues declined .12 percent to 1,112.58, and the real-estate index closed at 331.41, down a tenth of a percent.
