The Russian Navy announced, Thursday, that a naval task force from the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas will leave for the Mediterranean and arrive at the Russian naval base in the Syrian port of Tartus in the middle of May. The task force's route will take it through the Suez canal.
The task force consists of the cruiser Admiral Nevelskoi, the submarine destroyer Admiral Panteleyev and a combat logistics boat. The vessels are in Iran as part of a program of cooperation between the two navies.
