Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started the trading week, Sunday, with modest losses. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,071.71, down .17 percent, while the TA 100 declined .18 percent to 1,072.11, including a .03-percent slip to 1,203.37 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 lost .11 percent to 914.70.
The lone bright spot was the communications index, which climbed 1.09 percent to 571.51. Most of the technology issues were the worst hit, falling an average of .97 percent to 305.73 while the biomed stocks ended the day at 822.03, down .08 percent. The insurance index fell .96 percent to 1,270.32 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,069.56, down .42 percent, including a decline of .51 percent to 1,106.99 by the bank issues. The real estate stocks stood at 323.93, down .69 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index declined .54 percent to 1,113.39.
