Report: Hamas Says No to Refugee Placement in Canada

The Hamas terror organization has expressed strong opposition to a proposal that 120,000 Arabs who fled Israel when the modern Jewish state was formed be absorbed by Canada, according to a Sunday report by the Shalom Toronto Website. Past proposals to that effect were recalled by President Shim'on Peres during his meeting, last week with Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird.

In a statement issued on Friday, Hamas stressed, "The right of return of Palestinian refugees to towns and villages from which they were deported due to the occupation and the crimes of the occupation is a sacred right and nobody in the world has the authority to cancel or waive it." The statement also said, "Finding the Palestinian people's shelter in different countries is only a temporary stay, and the masses of our people will not agree to anything but return and will not give up this right."
