A protest vigil is scheduled for 7:00 Monday evening opposite the David's Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem, ahead of Tuesday's marking of Jonathan Pollard's 10,000th day in jail following his arrest for passing classified information from the United States to Israel. The hotel is where U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is staying during his current visit.
The slogan for the vigil is "10,000 days - enough!" Interviewed by Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service, Asher Mivtzari of the Committee to Bring Yonatan Pollard Home said that the life sentence for Pollard's crime is way out of proportion with the five to 14 years meted out even to those who have passed classified information to American enemies, let alone an ally like Israel. Even so, parole possibilities should have popped up. He added that recently-revealed documents from the Central Intelligence Agency show that the information Pollard passed did not harm U.S. security activities.
