Youth Volunteering with Holocaust Survivors to Expand

The Union of Nursing-Service Providers will soon be expanding its program for youths to volunteer in the senior-citizen community in the wake of recent assaults on seniors, including Holocaust victims. In a statement prepared for Holocaust Remembrance Day, Union Chairman Doron Raz said, "As an organization which takes care of the elderly who are eligible under the Nursing Services Law, including tens of thousands of Holocaust survivors, we are pained by incidents in which Holocaust victims are humiliated by members of the young generation and others."

Raz said the goal of expanding the volunteer opportunities is intended to help youth make "positive contact with those who need it so much." He said the union would make contact with additional groups in the coming months to expand possibilities for youth to work with seniors, with an emphasis on Holocaust victims.
