The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the holiday-shortened trading week, Thursday, with modest to moderate losses. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,092.78, down .87 percent, while the TA 100 declined .85 percent to 1,094.17, including a drop of .81 percent to 1,229.74 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 fell 1.31 percent to 918.27.
Worst hit was the insurance index, which lost 1.96 percent to 1,303.99 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,100.54, down 1.41 percent, including a .96-percent decline to 1,143.14 by the bank issues. The biomed stocks fell 1.54 percent to 816.72, while the rest of the technology index stood at 309.98, down 1.05 percent. The communications issues declined 1.44 percent to 533.83, while the oil and natural-gas stocks closed at 1,156.07, down 1.26 percent and the real-estate index fell 1.01 percent to 330.50.
