Honenu Criticizes Police Raid on Esh Kodesh

The Honenu legal-aid organization criticized police, Tuesday morning, for the pre-dawn raid that resulted in the arrest of five men in the Samarian Jewish outpost community of Esh Kodesh. A statement by Honenu read, "Police continue trying to paint a picture as if the settlers are the enemy and the source of trouble in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) and the country in general...." Referring to harassment of the community by Palestinian Authority Arabs, the statement continued, "At the same time even if the allegations are true, the incident was a classic case of self-defense against rioters who infiltrated the community and endangered the residents and their property."

Honenu also said, "The way the police chose to make the arrest of older people with families, like thieves in the night, without bothering to summon them beforehand for questioning is political and outrageous,"
