High 'Lands Day' Alert in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria

Security forces went on high alert, Friday morning, in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (Shomron) in anticipation of disturbance ahead of this weekend's observance of Lands Day, an Israeli Arab protest against government land confiscation. Hundreds of police officers deployed in the capital's Old City to prevent disturbances expected following Friday Muslim prayers on the Temple Mount in spite of access to the holy site being limited to males over the age of 50 with blue identity cardsThe Israel Defense Forces, including Border Guards, are also prepared for the regularly-scheduled disorders by Arabs and leftist sympathizers in the Samarian hotspots of Bil'in, Bituniya, Na'alin, Nabi Saleh and the area around Rachel's Tomb, between Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
