The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened the holiday-shortened trading week with modest to moderate gains, Sunday. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,110.02, up .69 percent, while the TA 100 rose seven tenths of a percent to 1,111.85, including a .67-percent gain to 1,247.42 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 advanced three quarters of a percent.
The insurance index led the gainers, climbing 1.94 percent to 1,346.29, as the financial institutions finished the day at 1.133.79, up 1.69 percent, including a 1.59-percent increase to 1.168.23 by the bank issues. The oil and natural-gas stocks stood at 1,192.78, up 1.25 percent, followed by the real-estate index, which advanced 1.06 percent to 333.68. The Ma'ala organization's list of socially-responsible companies closed at 950.66, up .98 percent, and the communications index rose .64 percent to 545.37. The biomed issues stood at 831.40, up .17 percent, while the rest of the technology stocks were unchanged at 320.35.
