MK Miri Regev (Likud), who heads the Knesset's Interior Committee, responded on Friday to the attempt to murder Akko Mayor Shimon Lankry on Thursday night.
"The attempt on Akko Mayor Shimon Lankry's life is a most serious incident. I will hold a meeting of the Interior Committee immediately after the holiday for an urgent discussion on violence against serving mayors," Regev wrote her Facebook page.
She added, "This is a dangerous crossing of lines and it seems that the concerns of some mayors have materialized. There are mayors who live under constant threat. This situation must change fundamentally."
