New Knesset Lobby for Local Government

Chairman Shlomo Bouchbout of the Center for Local Government announced, Thursday, the establishment of a Knesset lobby for local government. Speaking at a farewell ceremony for former interior minister Eli Yishai, the Ma'alot-Tarshicha mayor said the lobby would be headed by Member of Knesset Ya'akov Asher (United Torah Judaism), a former mayor of Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv.

Referring to Rabbi Asher, Mayor Bouchbout said "As one who worked tirelessly for the benefit of local government [and] handled the welfare problems of education, among other things, there is nobody more suitable to represent the local government in the Knesset. I wish him well and am sure that he will work and take care of benefitting the public regarding local government."
