Deadly Exchange in Lebanon Along Syrian Civil War Lines

Two people were killed and 17 wounded, Thursday, in an exchange of sniper fire in the Lebanese city of Tripoli, according to the National News Agency. A shell also exploded in the northern port.

Qatar's The Peninsula reports that demonstrators blocked the highway from Tripoli to Beirut over the arrest of gunman Jihad Dandashi a suspect in a Wednesday shooting at a Tripoli hospital where one person was killed and 10 wounded, including two Lebanese army soldiers. Earlier, Hassan Srour was turned over to Lebanese authorities after being held by Syrian rebels in connection with the ambush of 22 Sunni Muslims from Lebanon by Syrian government forces, last November, in the Syrian town of Tal Kalakh.
