In a joint press conference on Wednesday United States President Barack Obama told a classic inspiring Jewish story of a carob tree. He made the statements standing next to President Shimon Peres at his residence in Jerusalem. The two had just finished planting a tree together in President Peres's garden.

President Obama related the famous story from the Talmud. A younger man sees an older man planting a carob tree and comments that takes about 70 years for the tree to bear fruit. President Obama related the older man's answer stating "as my forefathers planted for me, so will I plant for my children."
