Housing Minister Uri Ariel shook the hand of President Obama at the official welcoming ceremony and said, “Please free Pollard.” The President listened and did not respond.

Ariel later explained, “After 28 years in prison, I found the time appropriate to request a Presidential humanitarian pardon for Jonathan. I pray he will heed the request.”
