Outgoing Deputy Health Minister MK Yaakov Litzman (United Torah Judaism Party) commented on his four-year tenure. "I'm leaving my job with great satisfaction and my head held high. I was privileged to view the considerable work of everyone in our health system. "
He congratulated incoming Heath Minister MK Yael German (Yesh Atid Party). "I hope you will succeed in the mission to continue promoting and optimizing health for the benefit of the citizens of Israel," added MK Litzman.
Although technically Deputy Heath Minister, MK Litzman ran the ministry full time. No actual Health Minister was ever assigned. He is credited with pushing for fertility treatments, ovum donations, and working to expand medical facilities in periphery locations by adding MRI machines and emergency rooms.
MK Litzman was born in a displaced persons camp in Germany to Holocaust survivors. He was raised in Brooklyn, New York until making aliyah at the age of 17. He will continue as a Member of Knesset in the opposition rather then the coalition.
