Esther Pollard continued to campaign, Tuesday, for signatures on a petition that calls on President Barack Obama of the United States to pardon her husband Jonathan, in the 28th year of a life sentence for passing classified information from the U.S. to Israel. Interviewed by Israel Defense Forces Radio, Mrs. Pollard said the last time she saw him, he was in bad condition. She said the nearly 200,000 signatures on the petition "give him life. This is what lets him breathe."
Esther noted that under the best of circumstances, the next opportunity for Jonathan to be released to house arrest won't come before 2015. She added, "Jonathan has excellent lawyers working voluntarily. Both they and senior American officials believe that the only way to release him now is a presidential pardon. If there was another way - they would be working on it."
