UN Deputy: Timing is Right for Israel-PA Talks

Jeffrey Feltman, the United Nations Undersecretary-General for Political Affairs, said, Monday, that he expected President Barack Obama of the United States will invest significant efforts, during this week's visit to Israel, to promoting the peace process between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Interviewed by Israel Defense Forces Radio, the former American Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs said he expected Obama to speak with Israeli and PA leaders in a way which will lead to a new effort for the two-state solution. He added that now is a good time to start a diplomatic process that focuses on results and not on the process itself. The former deputy U.S. consul in Jerusalem said neither side was doing enough to create mutual trust ahead of the possible start of contacts.
