Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu officially informed outgoing Education Minister Gid'on Sa'ar, Sunday afternoon, that he will be the Interior Minister in the next government. Sa'ar thanked Netanyahu for his trust, adding that he viewed the ministry as central and important in affecting the lives of Israeli citizens.
The minister said he intended to advance reforms in the Ministry of the Interior as he had at the Ministry of Education. As a result of coalition agreements, including a reduction in ministries, Environmental Affairs Minister Gil'ad Erdan will apparently be moving to the Communications Ministry and also hold the Homeland Defense portfolio and Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe Ya'alon will become Defense Minister. Outgoing Treasurer Yuval Steinitz will remain in the cabinet, but it is not yet known which portfolio he will receive.
