Bulgaria Backs Down on Sanctions Against Hizbullah

The Bulgarian government announced on Saturday that it would not take the lead in urging EU sanctions against the Lebanese terror group Hizbullah, even though the terror group was implicated in a bus bombing in the country last July which claimed the lives of five Israeli tourists.

"Bulgaria will not initiate a procedure (for listing Hezbollah as a 'terrorist organization')," interim prime minister, Marin Raikov, told the state BNR radio station. "We will only present the objective facts and circumstances and let our European partners decide."

Many in the country believe that leading an initiative against Hizbullah will invite more terror attacks.
