MK Feiglin: 1km for Each of Pollard's Years Behind Bars

Member of Knesset Moshe Feiglin (Likud-Beyteinu) set out, Friday morning, on a 28-kilometer (18 mile) bicycle trip from Eshtaol, in the Judean Hills, to Independence Park (Gan Ha'atzma'ut), opposite the United States consulate in downtown Jerusalem, as part of a call to U.S. President Barack Obama to release Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence for passing classified information from the U.S. to Israel. Each kilometer is equivalent to a year that Pollard has been behind bars since his arrest.

While more than 160,000 people have signed a petition calling on President Obama to release Pollard and bring him with him when he visits next week, Obama said, in an interview broadcast Thursday evening on Channel 2 Television, that Pollard's release would not be immediate. At his first rest stop, Feiglin said he hoped he would not have to do a 29-kilometer race next year.
