Volunteers to Beef up Security for Judea, Samaria Herds

A volunteer group called Hashomer Yosh (The Judea and Samaria [Shomron] Guard) was established this week to deal with a wave of livestock theft in the region, which has seen more than a thousand head of sheep stolen, with damage estimated in the millions of shekels. The volunteers will perform guard duty at night, ideally amounting to a few hours a month. Veterans of elite security units will make up a unique security portfolio for each pen, including proposals for improving security, recognizing weak spots, making note of neighboring villages from where thieves might be coming, and recognizing access and escape routes.
