The Binyamin Regional Council released a notice to residents warning of impending road closures. United States President Barack Obama will be visiting Israel next week, and as a result Route 60 will be completely shut down for a limited time.
The document states that due to security concerns, "Route 60 will be sterile and no traffic, not even an ambulance, will be allowed. Helicopters will be ready for emergencies, and additional medical forces will be deployed."
Although some townships will have alternative routes, others will be "trapped". These include Beit El, Psagot, Tel Tzion, Kochav Yaakov, Migron, the local gas station and Psagot Winery, and the Sha'ar Binyamin medical center and shopping area. "There will be no alternative routes," the Binyamin Regional Council stated. The council welcomed the U.S. president's visit and invited him to visit one of the local towns.
