Report: Israeli Ambassador Met Ukrainian Anti-Semite

Reuven Din El, Israel's ambassador to the Ukraine, met, three weeks ago with Chairman Oleg Tyagnybok of the Svoboda party, which is considered to be anti-Semitic, according to a Monday-morning report by the Yisrael Hayom daily. Complaints of racist incitement were filed against Tyagnybok after his call "to stop Jewish expansion."

Officials at the Foreign Ministry expressed surprise at the meeting, saying it was not arranged in consultation with them. The ambassador told ministry officials that Tyagnybok did not speak against Jews and that the reason for meetings like this is to have a positive influence on him.
