Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest to moderate gains at the end of the first day of the trading week on Sunday. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,103.19, up .57 percent, while the TA 100 rose .59 percent to 1,102.89, including an advance of .85 percent to 1,237.28 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 stood at 481.89, up .53 percent.
Leading the gainers was the bank index, which climbed 1.68 percent to 1,186.55 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,127.65, up 1.47 percent, including a 1.07-percent rise by the insurance issues. The Ma'ala organization's list of socially-responsible companies stood at 943.10, up half a percent, while the same percentage increase meant a posting of 1,154.77 for the oil and natural-gas stocks and 862.87 for the biomed index, and the rest of the technology issues edged up an average of .01 percent to 323.60. The communications stocks stood at 506.63, up .05 percent, while the real-estate index declined two tenths of a percent to 324.02.
