The Lod District Court has rejected a lawsuit against the Jewish National Fund over alleged land theft from Holocaust victims. Three grandchildren of a Jewish couple from Lithuania who died in the Holocaust in the 1940s filed the suit.
The couple had purchased land in the 1930s in the Sharon region. Their two surviving children initiated the suit after a report from a Netanya attorney showed that some land used for towns in the Sharon region had belonged to a group of Lithuanian Jewish buyers, including their parents.
The judge rejected their claim, saying the attorney’s report it was based on was an unproved theory with no evidence to back it up. The children received land in a different town that belonged to their parents, he noted.
