Ministers with the Shas party have denied skipping the cabinet meeting Sunday, Maariv reports. Each minister gave a different reason for missing the meeting, which will apparently be this government’s last.
Sources close to Minister of the Interior Eli Yishai said he had not skipped the meeting, but merely arrived late. Sources close to Housing Minister Ariel Attias said he was busy with events linked to the marriage of his daughter last Thursday.
Minister Meshulam Nehari, it was rumored, did not appear at the meeting as part of a pattern of skipping recent cabinet meetings because he finds them meaningless.
The Shas ministers’ absence was widely seen as a public display of upset over their parties non-inclusion in the next government.
