The Health Ministry has released data on trends in the mortality rate in Israel over the past decade. The ministry’s data found that in 2008-2010 the mortality rate from heart disease, accidents and chronic lower respiratory system diseases was down by at least 25% compared to the rate in 1999-2001.
At the same time, there was a significant increase in the mortality rate from pneumonia and the flu, and a more than 40% increase in death as a result of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Cancer remains the number one cause of death, with heart disease in second place.
