Sources in the hareidi-religious community have warned that if the new government significantly changes the current process for conversion to Judaism, the hareidi world will create its own conversion apparatus and will no longer respect Rabbinate conversions, Maariv reports.
“It all depends how far Lapid and Bennett will take the coalition when it comes to conversion,” they said. If the government significantly changes the process, “there will be two states here… there will be a rift that cannot be repaired,” they warned.
