Mohammed Asfour of the Samarian (Shomron) Palestinian Authority village of Abud, died Thursday morning at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv of wounds suffered during a February 22nd demonstration in his village, according Agence France Presse. The demonstrations were in response to the death of confessed stone thrower Arafat Jaradat. PA sources say he was abused by Israel.
Asfour was wounded in the head by a rubber-coated steel bullet fired by Israeli troops, according to activist sources. He was initially taken to a Palestinian Authority hospital but later transferred to Ichilov. B'Tselem, which champions the rights of area Arabs, demanded that the military launch an immediate inquiry into the incident and four other cases where Arabs claimed they were seriously wounded by army fire.
