Kerry Confident that Arms Not Falling in Wrong Hands

Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday expressed confidence on the part of Washington that weapons being to the Syrian opposition were landing in the hands of moderate forces and not extremists.

At a news conference in Doha Kerry said that after talks in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, two countries which are widely believed to be providing arms to the opposition, he felt assured that the weapons were not falling into the wrong hands.

"We had a discussion about the types of weapons that are being transferred," Kerry said. "We did discuss the question of the ability to try to guarantee that it's going to the right people and to the moderate Syrian opposition coalition and I think it's really in the last months that that has developed as a capacity that we have greater confidence in."
