Acting Knesset Speaker Binyamin Ben-Eliezer informed Member of Knesset Yoni Chetboun, Monday, that the Knesset will hold a discussion on the release of Jonathan Pollard, who has been behind bars in the United States nearly 10,000 days for passing classified information to Israel.
Chetboun asked for the session, ahead of this month's visit of U.S. President Barack Obama. He called on all Knesset members to take part saying it was "our moral duty". Addressing the session will be Lawrence Korb, a deputy secretary of defense at the time Pollard was arrested, who has been active in efforts to obtain Pollard's release. Korb is meeting, Monday, with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Shim'on Peres, having met on Sunday with Supreme Court Justice Eliyakum Rubinstein, who was attached to Israel's embassy in Washington, DC at the time of Pollard's arrest.
