Why Soldiers Can’t Sue over ‘5 Broken Cameras’

The IDF and IDF soldiers are unlikely to win in a court case against the creators of the movie 5 Broken Cameras, attorney Amir Teitonovich told Arutz Sheva. Teitonovich, who led a legal battle against the movie Jenin Jenin over its lies about the IDF, explained that movies violate a legal prohibition on slander only if individuals are named.

“5 Broken Cameras” shows the faces of individual soldiers only in scenes where they are refraining from responding to deliberate provocations from rioters, he said. Therefore, the individual soldiers whose faces are shown were not victims of slander, and the soldiers not referred to individually cannot sue because they were not personally targeted.
