The Prime Minister’s advisors believe that the government will have no choice but to freeze construction in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) for a second time in the upcoming months, the left-wing Haaretz reported Sunday.
According to the report, the advisors believe that international pressure on Israel is becoming so strong that the government will be forced to take diplomatic steps even if chances of appeasing the Palestinian Authority and bringing about a renewal of the diplomatic process are slim.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu previously froze construction for several months, exacerbating the housing crisis, but failed to bring PA Chairman Abbas to the table. Abbas agreed to talk toward the end of the freeze, but immediately dropped out of talks when the freeze ended on a pre-planned date shortly afterward.
