Peres to Address European Parliament

President Shim'on Peres is scheduled to leave, Tuesday, on a diplomatic trip to the European Union (EU), which will take him to Brussels, Paris and Strasbourg, where he will address the European Parliament, becoming the first Israeli leader to speak to the body in its current form. The address comes at a time when efforts are being made to recognize Hizbullah as a terror organization in light of findings by Bulgaria about the Hizbullah membership of suspects in last summer's bombing at the Black Sea resort of Burgas, in which five Israelis and a Bulgarian were murdered.

Peres will also address the senior economic forum of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) regarding the place of global/international companies in creating change in the Middle East, as well as contributing to economies, creating jobs and preventing hunger in the world. In addition to meeting with OECD leader Angel Gurria, Peres will meet with heads of state and the EU, as well as Secretary-General Andres Rasmussen of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
