Lapid Tries to Get Support to Lead Opposition

Yesh Atid Chairman MK Yair Lapid, and Labor Party Chairwoman MK Shelly Yacimovich have engaged in talks with the left and Arab parties in an effort to ensure the support of the heads of Meretz, Hadash and the Arab parties in leading the opposition.

"Israel Today" reported on Wednesday that after Lapid discovered that Yachimovich was seeking support to lead the opposition he too turned to the left and Arab parties to try to receive his own support for the position.

Lapid approached Meretz Chairwoman Zehava Gal-On and according to the report, Gal-On promised both Lapid and Yachimovich that they can speak to party members to determine which party leader they will support.

The report also stated that Gal-On herself, as well as the Arab parties, support Yachimovich.
