Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Tuesday trading with modest to moderate losses. About 55 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,080.95, down .67 percent, while the same percentage loss meant a posting of 1,212.49 for the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues, as the TA 100 declined .65 percent to 1,082.86. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 fell 1.4 percent to 459.19.
The lone positive note was struck by the oil and gas index, which rose .65 percent to 1,130.05. The biomed issues stood at 834.95, down .57 percent, while the rest of the technology stocks lost 1.16 percent to 320.74. The insurance index stood at 1,251.08, down .86 percent as the financial institutions declined 1.05 percent to 1,093.81, including a 1.29-percent drop to 1,150.75 by the bank stocks. The real-estate index stood at 318.92, down .88 percent, while the communications issues declined 1.19 percent to 499.73.
