Syria: Rebel Advances Fueled by Foreign Weapons

The Syrian opposition’s recent military progress is due in large part to arms received from foreign governments, the Washington Post reports. New weapons including anti-tank missiles have been sent to rebel forces viewed as moderates in an attempt to counter the growing influence of Islamist groups in the fighting.

The report was based on statements from senior officials in the Arab world and in the Free Syrian Army.
