Three Megillah (Book of Esther) scrolls that survived the Holocaust have been returned to the Jewish people, the Shem Olam organization for Holocaust study has reported. The scrolls were found in the attic in a house in Warsaw, Poland, that was once part of the Warsaw ghetto.
The home was one of the only ones to survive the war. Over the years it was refurbished, but the attic remained as it was. Only when the attic collapsed was it discovered that many Jewish holy texts had been hidden in a secret compartment in an attempt to save them from the Nazis.
The texts were first transferred to the Polish police, then released to Shem Olam.
