      2 Vehicle-Testing Companies Suspended

The Ministry of Transportation, Infrastructure and Road Safety decided, Sunday, to close the Hadarom vehicle-testing facility in Eilat from March 4th to 10th and the Yisrael facility in Be'er Tuvia, near Kiryat Malachi from March 3rd to the 8th, to give their operators time to fix serious safety deficiencies discovered during recent routine inspections. The closures are part of stricter supervision by the ministry, which has resulted in similar closures over the past two years.

Inspections of tractors were taking place at the port of Eilat instead of at the Hadarom facility, the latest program for pollution inspections was not used there, an unlicensed inspector performed a smoke test on a diesel vehicle and inspectors did not wear identification tags. An example of the Be'er Tuvia deficiencies was the authorizing of a vehicle with 11 defects when it was re-inspected immediately after the first test.
