Member of Knesset Reuven Rivlin (Likud-Beyteinu) said, Thursday, that Prime Minister and Likud party Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu promised him, Tuesday, that he will support his bid for an additional term as speaker of the Knesset. Chairman Avigdor Lieberman of the Yisrael Beyteinu party told Rivlin, Thursday, that he intends to support anyone the prime minister wants.

Rivlin is on the sidelines, pending formation of a government coalition. Labor's Binyamin Ben-Eliezer is serving as acting speaker by virtue of his being the oldest member of the parliament.
