Demanding Hareidi Yeshiva students enlist into the IDF could prove to be counter-productive, as they would be drafted around age 22, many with wife and children. The IDF needs combat soldiers, and family men might end up with an unecessary desk job with a military family stipend of thousands of shekels. The government would be wise to offer benefits for early enlistment or some other creative solution.
