The French Embassy in Cameroon confirmed on Tuesday that some French citizens were kidnapped in the north part of the country but details are still unclear.

"All I can say is it was an abduction. I can not confirm how many victims there are," an embassy spokeswoman said. 

RFI radio reported that gunmen kidnapped seven French citizens and are currently moving them to Nigeria
