Likudnik: We Offered Bennett First Choice; He Refused

A senior source in the Likud party said, Tuesday, that, contrary to claims by Chairman Naftali Bennett of Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home-New National Religious Party), Likud discussed a number of central issues with his party, including increased hareidi-religious national service, as well as security and diplomatic matters. Bennett complained, Monday, that there had been no significant talks in a week.

The source claimed that Likud offered Habayit Hayehudi the opportunity to be the first party to join the coalition, but the party refused, making its entry into the government dependent on the coalition's acceptance of Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid party.
