France: Rare Paintings to be Returned to Heir

Tom Zeldorf, 82, demanded in Court France return his late Austrian grandfather’s six rare paintings that were stolen by the Nazis in WWII. The French Culture Department has announced that it will return the paintings from the museum to Zeldorf.

Another painting from the collection of Prague banker Josef Wiener, confiscated in 1939 will be returned to his heirs.

France believes 2,000 works of art stolen from Jews by Nazis in WWII remain in French museums, but location of heirs is challenging.
