Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with modest gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,089.79, up .35 percent while the TA 100 rose .36 percent to 1,091.19, including an advance of .32 percent to 1,224.59 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 slipped .03 percent to 463.81.
Leading the gainers was the technology index, which advanced .89 percent to 324.42, while the biomed issues stood at 849.24, up .51 percent. Next came the communications stocks, which gained .68 percent to 503.76, followed by the insurance index, which stood at 1,269.89, up .64 percent, as the financial issues edged up .07 percent to 1,115.05, tempered by a .12-percent loss to 1,173.88 by the bank stocks. The real estate index closed at 321.59, up .41 percent, while the oil and natural-gas issues rose .07 percent to 1,125.50.
