Anniversary of Moses' Death Dedicated to Baby Health


Sunday is the seventh of Adar on the Jewish calendar, the anniversary of biblical Moses and therefore the national day of prayer and introspection for Israel's Hevra Kadisha burial societies. The burial societies decided to dedicate this year's prayers to the health of babies, following 12 incidents of crib death in the last month.

It is the practice of burial-society members to fast on this day and ask forgiveness from the dead to whom they did not give the proper respect  when dealing with them. They following the Ma'ariv evening prayer at the end of the day with a large dinner.
