MK Uri Ariel (Bayit Yehudi), until recently the head of the State Control Committee, has called on temporary Knesset speak MK Ben-Eliezer to appoint a temporary head of the State Control Committee in order to allow for discussion of the Prisoner X affair.

The State Control Committee is responsible for critique of the government’s activities. The government’s handling of the Prisoner X affair, in which an Australian-Israeli man committed suicide while imprisoned under a false identity, has been met with criticism at home and abroad.
